Complete Repentance
The prophet Isaiah was used by God to call His people to complete repentance. (Isaiah 1:16,17) The people of Israel were immersed in sins of all kinds. They were so far from the Lord that they did not even realize how evil they were in His eyes. Their condition is much like the condition of God's people today. I am not referring to non-believers, but Christians. We need to embrace complete repentance today, too.
Sin makes us dirty before God. He sees every stain, and we are the ones who have to take the first step to make ourselves clean. We must confess our sins and repent of them before He can thoroughly cleanse us and remove our evil deeds. First, we have to determine in our hearts to remove the evil deeds from our lives and cease to do evil. However, that is only half of repentance. The other half is that we must learn to do good. We do good when we do His will, not ours. His will is to seek justice, reprove the ruthless, defend the orphan, and plead for the widow.
Complete repentance must begin in our hearts and extend to our actions. We have to change our hearts from desiring to sin, and desire to do righteousness. Then, we must do it. When we do that, God will return to us in power, and we will be restored to His favor.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 3-6.
