Lucifer's Downfall
Lucifer was one the the grandest of the archangels in heaven. His splendor was amazing, until the day he was cast out of heaven, and he became Satan. His downfall was very specifically outlined in Isaiah's prophecy. (Isaiah 14:12-14) Our downfall could be the same as his, if we do not learn from his story.
Lucifer means "light bearer" or star of the morning. He became so proud because of his beauty that pride rose up in his heart, and he began to think he was as great as God. He wanted to ascend above the stars of God which is impossible, and he wanted his throne to be over the throne of God Himself. In fact, Lucifer wanted to be like the Most High. He wanted the worship that was only due to God. That was his sin and his downfall. However, we do the same thing when we think we can live without God. When we think we know better than God, we have sinned and become proud. That pride causes us not to worship God, but to want others to bow to us and to our wishes. When we get there, we are cast away from the Lord, too. We must never allow ourselves to think in that way, or we could find ourselves in hell with Satan and his fallen angels.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 17-19.
