Had It Not Been

Looking back on our lives we can see many significant times, Many of those times became turning points because of something good or something bad that happened to us. It could have been a new job, or it could have been a huge financial loss. However, often these times include our relationships with other people, either those who are happy with us or those who are angry with us and want to harm us. When we have a confrontation with angry people who desire to hurt us, we need God's leadership and protection. The psalmist had experienced that in his life.(Psalm 124:2,3) His testimony is like mine. Had it not been for the Lord, they would have swallowed me alive. What about you?

When we come to know the Lord Jesus, He is on our side. The Bible says in Romans 8, "If God is for us, who can be against us?" That is so very true. Having God on our side makes all of the difference. When people rise up against us and their anger burns, God is there to protect us, if we trust Him. I can think of several times in my life when God intervened to protect me and my family from these types of people. When it was all over, I said with the psalmist, "Had it not been for the Lord, who was on our side, when men rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us alive, when their anger was kindled against us." Oh praise the powerful name of the Lord!
