The Lord is My Strength and My Shield
David knew a lot about fighting. He knew that it takes great strength to combat a mighty foe. He knew the importance of a shield to ward off blows and the fiery arrows of an enemy. Therefore, it is very significant when David declared that the Lord was his strength and his shield. (Psalm 28:7) Sounds like he had realized that without the Lord he could do nothing. We need to learn that truth and practice it daily.
Our strength is greatly limited. In fact, when we come to understand that Satan and his forces are our real enemies, we know that our strength is no match for them. (Ephesians 6:12-18) We must fight every day in the Lord's strength and we must take up His armor to defeat our enemies. That is why it is so important that we know that God is our shield, too. When we trust Him, we can quench all the fiery arrows of Satan and his demons. We can go through any battle and come out victorious.
This should be a reason for our heart to exult in the Lord and cause us to thank Him in our songs and in our words all the time. We need to praise Him and let everyone know He is worthy of all praise and thanks, whenever we accomplish anything of value. It makes the Lord very pleased when He sees His children living in victory and giving Him all the credit. That is His design for us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 29-31.
