Seeing God Clearly

The end of Job's trial came after God had questioned him, but Job was not able to answer. All Job could do was admit his total inadequacy before the Lord's wisdom. Therefore, he made a great confession about the results of his suffering. Job told the Lord that before his trial he had heard "of" God by the hearing of the ear; however, now his eye could see God and His glory. Therefore, he retracted what he had said about questioning God, and he humbly repented of thinking he could contend with God. (Job 42:5,6) What an amazing confession.

Job was a righteous man who believed in God before God allowed Satan to attack him. However, the intense pain and suffering caused a great blessing to come to Job. He could see God fully for Who He is. His understanding of God and his relationship with God became so much stronger because of his testing. It led him to see himself in a way that he never would have done without the trial, too. Those were the greatest blessings God could have given to him. They were even greater than the new family and having his possessions doubled. There is nothing greater than seeing God clearly and being able to walk with Him in true humility.

The same can be true for us, if we will remain faithful to God through our trials as Job did. We can come to know God in a close relationship that cannot come through good times with Him. There is something about suffering that draws us to call on God and to see Him in a way that nothing else can. That is why we can count it all joy when we fall into temptations. We know God is going to draw us to Himself and make us stronger through them.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 1-5.
