God's Foreknowledge and His Favor
God is not bound by time and space, so when He looks in on us, He sees the beginning, the middle, and the end of everything all at one time. Therefore, based on His foreknowledge and perfect wisdom, He can work out His plan for this world without forcing people to do His will. That is what He did in the days of Esther. He knew the king would depose queen Vashti and want another queen. Therefore, God granted her to find favor in his eyes, and he selected her to be his queen. (Esther 2:17) All of this was accomplished by God working in the king and Esther, so that His chosen people could be saved from the evil plot of Haman to destroy all of the Jews in the kingdom.
We must never think that God is caught by surprise by anything that happens to us. He sees all and knows all, even knowing in advance what will happen. Therefore, we can go to Him in prayer having confidence that He has a plan to get us through every trial and temptation. (I Corinthians 10:13) One of the ways that He does this is to grant us favor in the eyes of an important person, so that person will help us get to where God wants us to be. I have seen this happen so many times in my life. Therefore, we must not live in fear of the future, but we must trust God to show us His way, and all will be well.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Esther 4-7.
