God Responds to True Humility
Manasseh was the most evil king of Judah. There is a long list of his terrible sins, which he committed and led the people of God to commit, too. However, when he was taken captive by the king of Assyria, he humbly cried out to God, and the Lord responded to his prayer by restoring him to his throne in Jerusalem. (II Chronicles 33:12,13) It was then that Manasseh truly came to know the Lord. We all need to have a similar experience of true humility before the Lord.
Whether we come to a time of distress or not, we must humble ourselves before the Almighty God of heaven and earth. It must be true humility because God knows our heart. He sees if our prayers are sincere or just to try to get us out of trouble. When God sees true humility and the willingness to trust Him enough to do what He says, then, He responds willingly, no matter what sins we have committed. He will give us His blessing to allow us to serve Him and carry out His will. If we have true faith in Him, we will begin to undo our past wrongs like Manasseh did, and we will begin to do the right things. This is how a person comes to know the Lord Jesus. There must be repentance, faith, and surrender to Him as Lord.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 34-36.
