Unrighteous Leaders

God holds leaders accountable for how they lead. This is true for leaders of countries, churches, and families. God expects leaders to be righteous before Him and in their dealings with other people. Also, He expects them to enforce righteousness. God delivered this message through Ezekiel, and we need to hear it again ourselves. (Ezekiel 45:9)

God hates violence and the plundering of innocent people. Leaders must not be violent, and they must do all they can to prevent and to curb violence in their sphere of influence. God never wants a leader to take advantage of people for his or her own profit. God expects the leaders to keep that from happening around them, too.

The key is to execute justice and righteousness. That means to be fair in the courts and other decisions, and to do what the Lord says is right, not what the leaders think is right. If this does not happen, they will be brought to justice themselves, sooner or later.

We need to heed these warnings if we find ourselves to be leaders in any area. God is watching, and He will not let our unrighteous prevail for very long before He brings us down in judgment. Also, we need to choose righteous leaders for our countries and churches. If our leaders become unrighteous, we need to call them back to God's justice and righteousness in any way we can, or our country or church will suffer under that unjust and unrighteous leadership.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 48 and Daniel 1-3.
