To Speak Up or to be Silent?
Every believer has a choice. Will we speak up against evildoers, those who go against the will of God, or will we be silent while evil progresses? The psalmist calls for us to understand that we can stand against iniquity because the Lord is our help. (Psalm 94:16,17) How are you speaking up against evil?
Fear can grip any person. None of us wants to be ridiculed or suffer pain for our beliefs. However, God has not given us a spirit of fear. (II Timothy 1:7) He has given the spirit of power, so that when we love Him purely, He casts out fear. (I John 4:18) Then, we can stand up for Him and speak out against evil, no matter what the consequences. It has been said that all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. That is basically what these verses are saying. God is looking to help anyone who will speak up. On the other hand, how will we feel in the Judgment, when He asks us why we did not speak up? I believe His displeasure will be worse than anything people could have done to us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 95-97.
