Benefits of Knowing and Loving the Lord
Many people are so focused on having eternal life in heaven that they miss the benefits that we have here in this life. I believe that is out of line with God's purpose for saving us. He does not simply want us to go to heaven when we die. He wants us to live for Him here. He wants us to know Him and love Him, so that we have a close relationship. When we have that kind of relationship with Him we enjoy many benefits. The psalmist listed a few for us. (Psalm 91:14,15) Please, take time to look them over.
He sets us on high if we know His name. That is a way for saying that we have a personal relationship with God. We are on a first name basis with the God of the universe. When that is the case, He lifts us up, so that we are seated in the heavenlies. (Ephesians 2:4-6) We have access to Him at any moment of our lives. In fact, we are already citizens of heaven, even though we are still in this world.
When we call upon Him, He will answer us. He always hears the prayers of His children, and He answers us in His will. He may say yes, or He may say no, but it is always the right answer. Sometimes, we are not ready or it is not His timing so He says wait. However, we can trust Him to answer us for our good.
He is with us in trouble, to deliver us and to honor us. Some people are crushed by trouble. They get all stressed. However, the one who knows and loves the Lord, does not need to stress. We pray about everything, and He gives us His peace that passes our understanding. Philippians 4:6,7) He is with us, and His power is there to deliver us. Also, He can bring honor to us at any point of our lives, as He sees fit. What a blessing to know and love the Lord Jesus! He is a wonderful Lord and Savior!
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 92-94.
