God is Ready to Forgive You
I believe there are many people who think God does not want to forgive them. They do not understand His nature, and they do not know how to seek forgiveness. The psalmist made both of these things very clear for all of us. (Psalm 86:5) Let's consider his insights.
The Lord is good and ready to forgive. God is not angry. He is not hateful. He is good and kind, full of compassion. He is not ready to punish. He is ready to forgive. He would rather forgive us than punish us. Always remember that God is love. Therefore, He always acts in love and mercy, even when He has to punish us. Even then, He wants us to turn to Him, so He can cease the punishment and bless us.
The Lord is abundant in mercy to all those who call upon Him. God does not just give us a little mercy. He is not stingy with His grace. He gives mercy abundantly. The key is that He is looking to us. Are we willing to admit our sin and call out to Him? Will we humble ourselves before Him and admit that we can't forgive our own sins, so we must have His forgiveness? If we will call upon Him from a sincere heart, He will apply His abundant mercy, and we will be forgiven. That means He throws the sin away, and it is gone. What a blessing to know that God is waiting for us, so He can forgive us in His mercy.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 89-91.
