Wisdom and Understanding
We all need wisdom and understanding to be able to live our lives as God intended. He is the Designer, and He established wisdom. He is the One who has understanding, because He knows all things perfectly. Job knew that all wisdom and understanding come from the Lord, and he told us a great definition for both. (Job 28:28) We need to hear Job, so we can have wisdom and understanding.
Wisdom is the fear of the Lord. When we have a fear of the Lord we respect Him as holy and all-powerful. We know that He is worthy of all of our worship and honor. He could destroy us and cast us into hell at any time, so we know that we are to heed all that He says. When we do those things we have wisdom, and we will live by His wisdom that we find in His Word and that He reveals to us as we pray.
Understanding is to depart from evil. Evil is sin. The wages of sin is death. Sin brings hurt and destruction to relationships and lives. If we hate sin, so that we depart from it, we show that we have understanding. Also, the opposite is true. When we depart from evil, we do right. We follow God's will. That is the essence of understanding that God's way is perfect, so it is best for us to do things His way, not our way.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 29-32.
