Holding Fast to God

Job had an excellent testimony, which came from his heart knowing that he had been faithful to the Lord. Of course, he knew he was not perfect. However, Job was confident that when God tested him, he would be found as gold. Gold is pure and so was Job. (Job 22:11,12) Let's hear Job's testimony and ask ourselves if we could say the same thing about ourselves.

Job held fast to the steps of God. He stayed very close to Him all of the time. He kept God's way, and did not turn aside to go his own way. Job did not depart from the commandments of God's lips. He was faithful to keep the commandments that God had spoken for us. He treasured the words of God more than his necessary food. Job would rather meditate on God's Word than to eat. That shows a great passion for the Lord and His Word. I would say that Job had a great grasp of what God desired for him to do, and he was very effective in holding fast to those things each day.

How about you? Can you give a personal testimony that is like Job's testimony here? Is it your intent to follow the Lord closely and never turn aside? Do you keep His commands and love His Word more than food? If we will do these things consistently, we can have confidence that we can stand before God and be found faithful like Job.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 25-28.
