For Such A Time As This

I know that everyone knows this verse out of the book of Esther. (Esther 4:14) However, sometimes, when we have heard a verse so many times, we fail to see the whole message. Please, don't let that happen as you read God's Word. Every word is precious and inspired by God.

Mordecai, Esther's uncle, was very blunt with his niece, the queen. She had to make a choice. She could speak up about the plot to kill all of the Jews in the kingdom, or she could remain silent. If she remained silent, she and her father's house would perish. That would be God's punishment for the sin of silence and lack of action to do the right thing. Also, God would raise up deliverance for His people from another place. God is not limited by our choices. He can and will carry out His will, using us or in spite of us. If we fail to do the right thing, we miss the blessing, and someone else will receive it. However, it is much more serious than that. The crisis faced might be the very reason God has brought us to where we are, and if we miss it, we miss why God saved us and placed us in the position, in which we find ourselves. To fail to act righteously would be to fail to live out our purpose in life. What a tragedy!

Be careful not to play it safe in life. When we do, we miss those things that can only be done by faith in God, and they are the best things in life. When we hear from Him, we must pray and fast like Esther did, so that His will can be known clearly, and we can have the power to do it. Then, simply trust God and see what happens. I would rather die trying to do God's will, than to live while missing His will and His blessings.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Esther 6-8.
