The Proper Order
David did not know the proper order for moving the Ark of the Covenant the first time he tried to bring it to Jerusalem. The result was one man died when he touched the Ark. Then, David checked the Word of the Lord to find out the proper order, and he enlisted the Levites to carry the Ark by its poles, as Moses had commanded. (I Chronicles 15:13,15) How often do we do things without knowing the proper order, and we have terrible results, too?
We like to depend on logic, and we fail to read the directions. God does not always go by the logical way, so we must read His directions, when it comes to doing things. That is why we have the Word of God, the Bible. It is amazing that God has been so good to give us the details about how to live and the proper order of doing His will. Why would we try to do anything without first consulting His Word? Why wait for the failures of life to stop and read God's directions? We need to learn from David's failure and our own failures, so that we always check to find God's proper order before we do anything. If we will follow that rule our lives will go much better.
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Chronicles 16-18.
