Interrupted Worship

Most of the time our worship services are very orderly, and they are completed without interruptions. However, I have had worship interrupted by birds and this past Sunday, by termites. Those were negative interruptions. There are good interruptions, too. The best is when God shows up. When the presence of God comes, He gets to set the order of worship, and sometimes, the worship stops, as it did in Solomon's day. (II Chronicles 5:13,14) I long for this worship times when the glory of God is so thick we can feel it or even see it. What about you?

Solomon was moving the ark of the covenant into the Holy of Holies in the completed temple. The instruments and singers were blending together in a marvelous harmony, as they praised and thanked the Lord. They proclaimed, "For He is good, for His mercy endures forever." At that moment a cloud filled the temple, so that the priests could not continue ministering. It was the glory of the Lord filling His house. What a wonderful manifestation of God to His people!

I believe if we will come to worship filled with God's Spirit, and we will sing His praises and thanksgivings in unity of heart and mind, we could see the same thing happen. God loves for His people to worship Him. Let's make that our aim every Lord's Day.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 6-9.
