Adjusting to God's Promises

What we do after we hear from the Lord shows if we really trust Him or not. We must not wait to see what God has said come to pass before we change our lives. We must change first, based on His promise to us. That is what David did as he was organizing God's people, so Israel would carry out God's will. (I Chronicles 27:23) This is a very valuable lesson for all of us.

When we read the Bible and we come across a promise that applies to our lives, we must adjust our lives to act in anticipation of God's promise. The same is true when God speaks to us in prayer or simply in our everyday lives. Since He is our lord, when He tells us He is going to do something, we need to trust Him enough to make adjustments. If God says that He is going to bring rain, we need to get the umbrella, even if the sky is still clear. If God shows us that He wants us to be a missionary, we begin to adjust our lives, so that when the call comes to a certain country or people group there is no delay. When we make these adjustments, God sees our faith in Him, and He blesses us for not reacting to what He has done, but being proactive on what He has told us.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Chronicles 28-29 and II Chronicles 1.
