Overcoming the Devil
God never intends for a believer to be defeated by the devil. We always have the power of God to overcome him, but we may not realize what we have. (Revelation 12:11) Even in the Tribulation time when Satan will be given authority to make war with the saints, God will give His children glorious victory in His own way.
We defeat the devil by the blood of the Lamb. Jesus defeated the Devil once and for all by shedding His precious blood as the payment for our sins. Once we know Christ, the blood is applied to our lives, so that our sins are forgiven, and we belong to Him. Because of this, Satan can only kill us physically, but He can never cause us not to be saved or to be separated from God.
Also, we overcome the devil by the word of our testimony. When we give the glory for our salvation to God by confessing it with our mouths, it is proclaiming Satan's defeat to him and his demons. It reminds them of their impending doom and eternity in the Lake of Fire.
Finally, we overcome the devil, when we do not love our lives in this world, so that we are willing to give up our lives for the Lord, just like He gave His life for us. Since death has no power over us, and we do not fear death, the devil knows that we have won, and he is defeated. There is nothing he can do to harm us that will not be forgotten one second after we are in heaven.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Revelation 14-16.
