God's Desire for All People
God is love. He loves all people. It is His desire that all people be saved from their sins and come to the knowledge of the truth. (I Timothy 2:3,4) When we see God's heart so clearly in this passage, we realize that we are to love everyone, and we are to desire for them to be saved, so that we pray for them and share the gospel with them.
The Lord inspired Paul to write the letters he sent to churches and people that we have in the New Testament. I Timothy 2:1-7 is a remarkable passage, because of the word "all." He exhorts us, as believers to pray for "all" men, which means all people. Then, he proclaimed that God desires for "all" people to be saved. Finally, Paul revealed that Jesus gave Himself as a ransom for "all." Each one of those truths show us the heart of God. He cares for all people, so He sent His Son, the God/Man to pay the ransom payment for our sins by shedding His blood and dying for all of us. What a marvelous God we have.
In God's economy everyone is important. God does not want anyone left out of heaven. Jesus paid the ransom for all people, so anyone who turns from his or her sinful way and trusts Jesus as Lord and Savior will be saved and have life. There is no way to overstate the love of God for every soul who has ever lived or will ever live.
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Timothy 4-6.
