Nevertheless at Your Word
Living the Christian life is not rocket science, as some people say. It is not easy, but it is fairly simple. It all comes down to taking God at His word. (Luke 5:4,5) Peter learned that when he followed the word of the Lord to put down his nets to catch fish. We all need to learn this lesson and live it out every day.
Jesus sat in Simon Peter's boat to teach the multitude. Then, He told Peter to launch out into the deep water and put down the nets for a catch. Peter was very skeptical. They had fished all night and caught nothing. However, He still obeyed His Master. At the word of Jesus, He did what He did not really think would work, and he caught so many fish that his boat was about to sink. What a miracle! Yes, but we would see this happen often, if we would just simply take the Lord at His word.
The Bible contains about 95% of what we need to know and do, as Christians. Also, we can hear from the Lord when we pray, and the Holy Spirit can prompt us to follow God's will. The point is, "Whatever the Lord says, do it." Then, stand back and watch what He does in your life. When we take Him at His word, we are living by faith. Faith pleases God, so that He responds to our faith. We do not always get what we want, but if we follow His word, we will get what is best for us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Luke 6-8.
