A Physician's Testimony of Divine Healing
I am sure that most of us have known someone who has been healed by God. It is not an uncommon miracle. However, it is fairly rare to hear a doctor speak about a divine healing. Luke, the writer of the gospel of Luke and the book of Acts, was a doctor. He gave a testimony of a lady who was healed from a bleeding problem she had for 12 years. (Luke 8:43,44) It is an encouragement to me to know that this and other godly physicians give Jesus credit for healing people.
Luke's testimony of healing is specific. This lady had spent all of her livelihood going to doctors seeking a cure, but she could not be healed by any of them. Then, somehow she heard about Jesus. She believed that if she only touched the border of his garment, she would be healed, so she did just that. Immediately, her flow of blood was healed. What men could not do, God did instantly. This account is Luke, the physician, giving the Lord all of the credit for healing this lady.
I pray that all of us have the faith of this lady, so that we know God is the Healer. Also, I pray that we all know there are godly physicians who have been led by God to help people in so many ways. God can also heal through those people. (Acts 28:8,9) Either way, God is the Healer.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Luke 9-11.
