The Promise of Perfect Peace
God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him out of trust for the Lord. (Isaiah 26:3,4) That is an amazing promise, but it is so true. It is really the same promise as Philippians 4:6,7. Let's consider how to have this perfect peace that passes all understanding.
We must stop thinking that we are in control. We must shift from worrying to focusing fully on the Lord. We must start trusting the Lord, instead of trusting in our own intelligence or in our own ability to work out our problems. Then, when we give it over to the Lord, trusting His strength to take care of us, He gives us His perfect peace. He guards our hearts and minds with His peace, because we are not striving in our own power.
How does that look in our lives? It is a life of prayer that casts all of our cares upon Him. It is a life of surrendering our will to His will. It is a life that knows that we can't accomplish anything without the Lord, but with Him all things are possible. Therefore, any time we want perfect peace, it is up to us to start living such a life every day. Then, we can count on the Lord to deliver this peace to our hearts and minds.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 27-29.
