Proof that God Alone is Lord
King Hezekiah was not just concerned with his own life, when the king of Assyria came to attack Jerusalem. He did not even just care about saving the city of Jerusalem. He prayed to the Lord and asked Him to save them from the King of Assyria, so that all the kingdoms of the earth could know that God alone is Lord. (Isaiah 37:20) We need the same attitude, and we need to pray the same type of prayers today.
King Hezekiah asked God for a miracle. He trusted the Lord enough to believe He could defeat the king of Assyria and his huge, powerful army. His heart was to see this miracle, so the whole world could come to the only true God. His prayer was answered, and the world saw the king of Assyria stopped. It was a clear sign to all that God was Lord of all.
I pray that all believers would begin to pray such prayers with the same kind of faith that Hezekiah had, so that we, too, could see undeniable miracles. Then, everyone around us would be able to see that God is alive, and He alone is Lord. Then, we can share the gospel with them and see them saved.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 40-43.
