A Time for Weeping and Mourning
At times, God calls for believers to weep and to mourn over our sins and the sins of our nation. When God calls for weeping and mourning, baldness and sackcloth, He is not pleased to see His people in joy and gladness, eating meat and drinking wine, while saying, "Let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die." (Isaiah 22:12,13) I am afraid that is what is happening among believers in America today.
Over 50 million babies have been aborted in the last 42 years. Now we hear that their body parts are being sold for profit. I read today that if we had a moment of silence for each of those babies, we would have 100 years of silence. That is only one of the horrendous sins of our nation. Do I need to name them all? Yet it seems that our churches do not want to weep and mourn in confession and repentance, but we want to just sing praises and be glad. We want to have fun eating and drinking, because we are busy and death is coming. We do not want to have any discomfort or miss any experience of this world. We are no different from Jerusalem when God sent Babylon to destroy them. We better learn this lesson and begin to change our laughing into mourning, or we will find the wrath of God poured out on us, as well.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 24-26.
