Your Comforts Delight My Soul
Many of the Psalms are filled with examples of believers being attacked and having other trials. However, at the same time the psalmists share their steadfast trust in the Lord to comfort them and to help them.(Psalm 94:19) Let's focus in on one verse that summarizes this for us.
All of us have a "multitude of anxieties within us." That doesn't mean all of us worry all the time. It does mean that we have plenty of things to worry about, and we will be worrying all the time unless we know the Lord's grace and help for us. We must not focus on the problems, and we must not give in to worry. We must focus on the Lord and trust Him, instead of worrying. It may be hard, but it is possible because of all the Lord provides for us.
God provides His "comforts." Those are blessings from God and provisions from God, so that we can know His comfort in the midst of life's storms. God has whatever we need to stay at peace in life. However, we must go to Him and ask for His comforts to be applied to our minds, our wills, and our emotions. Remember, the soul is the mind, will, and emotions of each human being. Therefore, God has whatever we need to comfort our minds. It might be a reasonable explanation for our situation or a clear solution for our trouble, but it is more than enough to delight our soul. God has what we need to anchor our will to His will, so that we decide to do the right things, without having to worry about them, After all, He is the Source of wisdom and understanding. Finally, God can calm any emotion. In fact, He can and does replace the fleshly emotions with emotions that are pure like Adam and Eve before sin came into this world. Then, we can feel at peace, even with many anxieties around us.
I pray that all of us have found out that God's comforts delight our souls, so that we refrain from worrying, and we can praise the Lord for His goodness to us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 95-97.
