God's Protection of His Children
Psalm 91 is a great comfort to us, as believers, when we face challenges, attacks, and other problems of life. It is a proclamation of God's protection over us. Surely we do abide under the shadow of the Almighty once we come to know the Lord and dwell in His secret place.(Psalm 91:1,11) This morning, I want to focus in on one of the ways God protects us. It is a way that we forget many times.
God rules a multitude of angels, and they are ministering spirits. They are given charge over us by God to keep us everywhere we go. What a comfort that is to us. Even though we can't see them very often, they are always there for us to protect and to guide at God's command. Then, when we do encounter them, it is a marvelous revelation of God's care for us.
Last week, I was visiting a lady in our church family. She shared how God had sent an angel to be at her bedside in her darkest hour. Her blood pressure was dropping, and the doctors and nurses came to her rescue, but all the while, she could see his presence and hear his voice giving them directions about her needs. When she spoke to her family, they were not aware of this angel, but he was very real to her.
When Chris and I were stuck in the middle of an icy highway near Tyler Texas, God sent an angel to pull us out. It was amazing, especially since Chris was expecting a baby, and we were totally unable to help ourselves out of that dilemma. A pickup truck pulled up with a chain and pulled us our easily, though we were buried up to the axles in mud, and the road was all ice. Then, I turned to thank the man, and he was already gone out of sight. I know that day, God delivered us by his angel.
I pray that all of us know God's care and protection. I hope we will watch out for angels, as we entertain strangers, just as the Bible says. We never know when God will send one to our rescue.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 92-94.
