Humility

Many people feel like a great leader can't be very humble. The world's vision of a leader is to be proud and very self-confident. That is not God's view of leadership. Moses was a great leader, who led about two million people out of Egypt and through the wilderness for forty years. However, the Lord told us that he was the most humble man alive at that time.(Numbers 12:3) We need to consider how to be a humble leader, because that is what God wants.

Humility is not lacking ability. Humility is knowing that all of our abilities come from God. It is that we use those abilities for His glory, and we give Him the credit for what is done. The Bible only records one time that Moses did not do that, which is remarkable since he was leading such a difficult group of complaining people.

Jesus was the most humble person ever, yet He was the greatest leader of all time. He knew that the Father had given Him a mission, and He totally depended on the Father to guide Him and the Spirit to empower Him for the task of discipling  the apostles and dying for our sins. He accomplished it all perfectly, while being very humble in every way.(Philippians 2:5-11) I pray that we all would learn from Moses and Jesus about being humble leaders to accomplish God's will in His way.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Numbers 13-15.
