Living Right
Living right is not as easy as deciding we will do the right things, is it? How many times have you made a decision to start doing the right thing for your life, only to fail to follow through on that decision? I know we have all had that experience, and sometimes, we can get discouraged, if we do not know what is going on. The Holy Spirit inspired Paul to give us the key to living right in Galatians 5:16. It contains a guarantee from God that we all need to live as we should. Let's dive into this truth.
We may know what is right, but we won't do it, unless we have help from the Lord. Our flesh is our human nature with all of it's weaknesses and desires. Without God's help we will do what the flesh desires, instead of doing the right thing. We are powerless to stop from doing these strong desires or lusts, because Satan is good at using them to tempt us to do the wrong things. We must have God's power to defeat Satan, the flesh, and the world.
God's power resides in believers, because the Holy Spirit lives in every Christian. However, many believers do not follow the Spirit. They keep on listening to the flesh, Satan, and the world. That is not God's will, though. He wants each of His children to "walk in the Spirit." To put it simply, we must live by the Spirit. When we live by His direction, His authority over Satan, and His power, we have everything we need to live right. Therefore, we must quit trusting our wisdom and strength. We start trusting the Spirit and surrender to do whatever He says to us. He will lead us to do the right things and give us the power to do them. Then, we will do what is right every time. It is when we fail to live by the Spirit that we end up doing the wrong thing.
Try walking in the Spirit. See if God will make good on His guarantee. I assure you He will. He is faithful, and I have seen this in my life so many times.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Galatians 6 and Ephesians 1-2.
