A Prayer Inspired by God
Do you ever wonder what to pray for yourself and for other believers? If you do, just follow some of the prayers that God inspired to be written in His Word. I believe we can be confident that they are prayers that God would love to answer for His children. Let's look at part of one of them.(Colossians 1:9,10) I believe it will be a blessing, if you will use it as a guide for your prayers sometimes.
It is very important for us to know God's will, so we can do God's will. I can't tell you how many times Christians have told me that they do not know God's will for their lives. Believe me, it is not because God is hiding it from them. We need to constantly pray for God to fill us with the knowledge of His will. Then, we will see clearly what God wants us to do each day.
Along with the will of God, we need to have all wisdom and spiritual understanding. It doesn't mean that we would know everything, or that we would be the smartest people in the world. It means that we would have every kind of wisdom, so that we see things as God does, and we have His understanding of things. We can only get those things from God, so we need to ask Him for them every day, too.
We should be seeking to live for the Lord so that all we do is pleasing to Him. If that is the desire of our hearts, we should pray that to let God know. If that is the case, we will desire to be fruitful in every good work. In other words, we want to ask God to use us in the power of His Spirit to see people come to know Christ and to be more like Jesus in the fruit of the Spirit.
All of this requires that we never stop learning about God, so we need to pray that we will be increasing in the knowledge of God. The more we know about Him, the more we know what He would do and say, so that helps us know His will and live a life worthy of Him.
See how simple that is, but it is really very profound. It might take 2 or 3 minutes to pray that sincerely from our hearts, but it will help us all day long.
