Our Hope
This Sunday evening after our Community Thanksgiving Meal we are going to watch the new Billy Graham video "Heaven." If you live in our area, I encourage you to make reservations for this free meal and join us for a time of Thanksgiving and Hope. We all have things for which we should be thankful, but not all of us have hope. The Lord gives genuine hope to all who are saved.(Romans 8:24,25) These verses explain hope, and it would help all of us to understand genuine hope.
We do not hope for things we can already see. They are reality already. There is no need to hope for them. We enjoy those things God has already supplied for us. We hope for those things that we can't see yet. However, that hope is not a simply a wish or desire on our part. Paul tells us here that hope is eagerly waiting with perseverance. The same Jesus who saved us by forgiving our sins promised to take us to heaven. Just as surely as our salvation has been supplied and our sins have been forgiven, we will go to heaven when we leave this earth. Therefore, we are eagerly waiting for it, not just hoping it will happen. We have perseverance as we wait because we know it is coming, so we will continue to wait for it until we see it. That is our hope as believers.
I pray that all of us are eagerly waiting for heaven with perseverance, but if you have any doubts and questions, please let me know how I can help and/or join us to see this presentation on heaven. It will be a blessing.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Romans 11-13.
