Living Life to the Fullest
There are some very basic principles that lead us to a great life. These principles prepare us for all that will come into our lives. Romans 12 teaches us many of those principles. I want to focus in on 3 of them this morning: Love purely, Hate evil, Grasp Good.(Romans 12:9) Let's take just a minute to consider this verse.
"Let love be without hypocrisy." Love is never fulfilling if it is not from the heart and sincere. A person who will fake love is a failure on many levels. Love is a decision of the heart to put another person first. We must not just go through the motions of love outwardly to get approval. We must love purely with complete honesty. That adds so much to life.
"Abhor what is evil." Some people think they can live well by liking what is good. The truth is that won't work to bring a great life. It has to be coupled with hating evil. If we only want to do good, because we like it, we will fall into evil. Satan will see to that. We must hate evil, so that we stay as far away from it as we can. Then, we will be free to do good.
"Cling to what is good." Once we see the good in life, we must grasp it and never let go. It is not enough to hold it lightly, and practice good a little. We must cling to it, and practice it all of the time. Doing good makes for a great life.
Just think about a life filled with pure love, no evil, and much good. I believe that describes the life of Christ, and it can describe our lives if we will know Him and let Him guide us to the abundant life.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Romans 14-16 and I Corinthians 1.
