Defeating Satan's Strategy
Satan is prowling around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Often, he attacks Christians. He can't keep us from going to heaven, but he can make us miserable, and he can render us ineffective in our service for our Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit inspired Paul to give us a sure way to defeat Satan's strategy and to continue serving the Lord well.(Romans 14:19) Let's make sure we know how to do this.
One of the devil's tactics is "Divide and Conquer." He knows that we can do so much if we are unified in mind, heart, and purpose. Therefore, he does whatever it takes to cause divisions and strife between believers. We must stop this strategy by pursuing the things which make for peace. If we are tempted to get upset or be angry with a brother or sister in Christ, we must stop and realize this is from Satan. Then, we simply do what it takes to make peace and restore fellowship. If all believers would do this every time Satan tries to bring problems, he would never get the victory.
The other thing Satan does consistently is to get us to criticize each other or cut each other down. God builds up, while Satan pulls people down. We must be focused on edifying each other. That means that we do whatever it takes to lift up the other person, so that he or she is stronger and more equipped than ever before. Yes, we may encounter someone who needs instruction because they do not know God's will. We can always do that in a positive way, instead of being hurtful and negative. Then, we are constantly growing in the Lord as we help others grow. Satan can't win when we edify each other.
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Corinthians 2-5.
