Love is a Priceless Treasure
We can choose to love anyone for any reason we think is good. However, if it is genuine love, it will last, and the other person will respond with the same depth of love for us. That makes the kind of mutual love that is a priceless treasure.(Song of Solomon 8:7) Nothing can kill that kind of love.
Unfortunately, we may have a hard time knowing who will love us back in that way. Can I give you a valuable insight? Only a person who possesses God's unselfish love, because they have become a Christian and experienced the love of Christ in their lives, can truly love with the deepest lasting love. Human love fails. Human love has difficulty forgiving and trusting. However, if you will read I Corinthians 13, you will find that God's love never fails, and it always believes or trusts. Therefore, we need to look for a godly person, if we are a believer, so we can have the same quality of love for each other.
The same is true for our love for the Lord Jesus Christ. If we love Him completely, nothing can quench that love or flood it out. In fact, trials just make it stronger, because we draw closer to Him, and He draws closer to us. What a priceless treasure!
