Turning to the Lord Completely
Josiah became king at the age of 8. He did the right things, but he was at a disadvantage. At that time they did not have a copy of the Law of Moses, the first 5 books of the Bible. Then, a copy was found in the temple. When they read it to Josiah, he set out to turn to the Lord with all of his heart, soul, and might.(II Kings 23:25) This caused the Lord to commend him for his complete dedication to keeping the Law of Moses like no other king had ever done. We need the same type of commitment to keeping God's ways and laws today.
Josiah turned to the Lord with all of his heart, soul, and might. That means his inner person to the very core of who he was turned to the Lord completely. His soul was his mind, will, and emotions. He also turned to the Lord will all of his soul. He completely turned over his mind, his thinking, his will, his decision making, and his emotions, his feelings, to the Lord. Then, he did all of this with all of his energy and power. That is a fantastic combination that I would recommend to all of us. After all, we can't really please God by turning to him half way. He sees and knows our hearts. He is worthy of our all, and when we give it to Him, He sees and smiles on us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 25 and I Chronicles 1-2.
