Confidence in God's Word
We can trust God's Word. We should have confidence in the Word of God. That is one of the things that Joshua wanted to drive home for the people of Israel before he died.(Joshua 23:14) He knew that they could look back and see how God had done all that He promised. He hoped that would teach them to trust God's Word and obey all that God communicated to them.
We can see the same things today. All of the prophecies of the Bible that should have come true already have come true. We can see from history that none of them have failed. This is a great proof of the truth of the Bible.
Also, we see from the archaeological discoveries that God's Word is true, and that all it says is exactly correct. It is inerrant, because it has no mistakes. It is true about everything it affirms to us. We can trust God's Word.
We come to trust God as we have confidence in His Word, and we know we have the truth. We can't trust someone if we do not feel they will act according to truth, so we find it hard to trust the Lord Jesus, if we can't trust the Bible. Therefore, we need to do whatever study it takes to have full confidence in the Bible, or else we will fail to fully trust the Lord as we should.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Judges 2-4.
