Complete Obedience

It is vital that we obey God completely and immediately when He shows us His will. Anything less than complete obedience is disobedience. Israel made a huge mistake by not driving all of the pagan peoples out of the Promised Land like God commanded them to do.(Joshua 13:13) This led to their downfall and exile into other countries. It will lead to our destruction, too.

Why would we not obey God? Sometimes we question His logic. Israel might have thought it was not necessary to kill all of their enemies like God commanded. They might have rationalized that making them servants was good enough. We are not smarter than God. When we question Him, we are making ourselves His equal. It doesn't work well, at all. Also, we could just be lazy. Israel might not have wanted to put in the effort to drive out their enemies completely. This laziness cost them dearly, and it will cost us, too.

I pray we will set our hearts on complete obedience to God. The results will be amazing, if we will choose to simply obey, whatever it takes.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 14-16.
