We Belong To Him
There is so much more to being a Christian than just having our sins forgiven so we can go to heaven. It is essential for us to read God's Word and listen to the Spirit, so we know all that He has for us. Think about it. Jesus died in our place. His blood was shed for us. In fact, He paid for us to buy us back from our bondage to Satan because of our sins, so now, we belong to Him.(I Corinthians 6:9,10) That is a very good thing!
We tend to be very independent. We do not want others telling us what to do. Often, we resent authority. All of these things go against having a close relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Remember, He loves us more than we love ourselves. He knows what we need better than we do. He has a wonderful plan for our lives, and if we follow it, we will have the best life possible. In order to accomplish all of this, He bought us when He died for us. He made us the temple of the Holy Spirit. Now, the Spirit lives in us to guide us, empower us, and to provide all we need for our Christian life. If we surrender to the Lord Jesus and listen to the Spirit, we can always do God's will and experience His blessings.
Therefore, our goal is to glorify God in our body and in our spirit. We give Him the credit for everything, because He is in control. We listen, we follow, and we are glad that He knows everything we need. We seek to obey. Obedience is a good thing, which leads to victory. We do not fight against the Lord and try to get our way. This is the way to real life and peace.
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Corinthians 7-9.
