Sent into the World
Jesus was The One sent into the world by the Father to show us the Father and to die for our sins. He came that all may have eternal life. He came to seek and to save those who are lost and separated from God. He had a clear mission, and He accomplished that mission. One of the final parts of His mission to this earth was to send out His disciples into the world as the Father had sent Him into the world.(John 17:18) We must never forget our mission as His disciples, and we must stay on mission 24/7.
It is easy to be distracted by other things in life, but nothing is more important for us, as disciples, than going to the world with he Gospel and seeing people come to know Christ. If we miss that one thing, we will have missed our main purpose in life. Yes, there are other things we do that contribute to that mission, but they cannot supersede the mission. Our focus must be on fulfilling the commission Jesus gave us.
Do not fear the world. Do not join the world in what it does. Do not love the world. Love the people for whom Christ died. Be a witness for Jesus, so they can know Him and have eternal life. That is our primary mission. Everything else is secondary.
Tomorrow, I intend to read John 20 - 21 and Acts 1.
