Important Reminders
The Lord has to remind us of things pretty often. We should know them, but we drift back into doing things our own way. The Lord sent one of these reminders to Zerubbabel, the governor of God's people who returned from the Exile to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem.(Zechariah 4:6) We need to be reminded of it, too.
God's work is not to be done by our might or power. In fact, it is quite impossible to accomplish His work without His supernatural assistance. We would not know what to do, and we would not have the ability to do it. However, when we rely on His Spirit, we know what to do, and He gives us just what we need to accomplish it. Unfortunately, we often try to do it without Him. Yes, we are busy, or we just fall into a rut of doing things a certain way. The worst thing is when we are proud, and we think we can do it by ourselves. There is never a reason to fail to trust His Spirit to lead and to provide.
Therefore, we must build time into our schedule to make sure we are filled with His Spirit, and when we can listen to what He wants to say to us. If we do not take this time each day, we really haven't learned this lesson, and we have rejected this important reminder.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Zechariah 5-7.
