The Mighty, Awesome One who is with Us
Jeremiah is known as the weeping prophet. He had good reasons to weep, because of his persecution and the rejection of his message to the people of God. However, through it all he knew that the Lord was with Him and that ultimately His persecutors would be the ones who would be ashamed and confused.(Jeremiah 20:11) Jeremiah was a child of God, and we know that the Lord cares for His children, so that nothing happens to us without His permission, and nothing happens that He does not give us the power to handle in His way.(I Corinthians 10:13)
Think about that this morning. God doesn't promise us a life without problems. He promises to walk with us through the problems, as our Mighty, Awesome Lord. He doesn't promise that our family, friends, or others will always accept our message and treat us nicely, but we know He has a plan. I believe sometimes He assures us of our protection like He did for Jeremiah. Sometimes, He allows us to suffer or even be killed like the believers in Egypt are being murdered right now. However, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Imagine the welcome He gives one of His children who dies for Him.
Life is not fair, but God is good. We can trust His wisdom and His love. It still hurts for people to reject us, and in moments of weakness we feel despair coming on like Jeremiah. However, we can always run back to the presence of our Lord and jump into His strong arms for His comfort and deliverance.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 22-25.
