Hope

Having hope in life is very important. Notice that I did not say "hopes." We hear people talk about having "hopes and dreams." They are wishing that things would happen in their lives, and they may even be working to see them come true. However, that is not the same as having hope. Hope is a confident assurance of what will happen to you in the future. The only source of real hope is the Lord, and it comes by trusting Him.(Jeremiah 17:7,8) Trust is putting faith in Him that He is Lord of all, and He has a plan for us that is wonderful and better than what we would choose for ourselves.

The results of this type of trust in the Lord and hope that comes only from Him are pretty amazing. The person with this hope will not fear when the heat is turned up in life. This person will not be nervous or anxious about the droughts of life. Instead, this person will be like a tree that is nourished by a river, so that he or she will bear fruit in life constantly. The fruit brings satisfaction from seeing the Lord work in them and through them, but also, there is stability because they know God is in control. They will never become hopeless in any situation. They will never face serious depression that is caused by hopelessness, fear, and anxiety.

It is God's will for each of us to have our hope in Him and to live a fruitful life here on earth and then, go to be with Him in heaven. All of this comes through trusting Christ, as Lord and Savior, and continuing to trust Him every day for the rest of eternity.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 19-21.
