Social Justice

There is a lot of talk about social justice today. Younger people are very concerned about how our culture needs to do the right thing for the people who live here. Much of this concern arises from reading the Old Testament prophets and their admonitions to the kings of Israel and Judah, as well as their prophesies to pagan countries.(Jeremiah 22:3) God is definitely concerned with social justice, because He cares for people. He wants us to be concerned, too, and to do the right things. However, there is disagreement as to how to accomplish this justice.

Personally, I am convinced that we can't equate social justice with socialism or communism. Countries that have adopted those forms of government have not produced social justice, and there is no reasonable way to conclude that we can do any better than they have done.  Socialism takes away the incentive to work, and therefore, when you divide the wealth, there is not enough to go around. It produces poverty and corruption, especially because of the sinful nature, and the fact, that most people are not believers who will do the right things by following the Lord.

Therefore, my conclusion about the need for social justice is awakening, revival of God's people, and the saturation of society with the principles of the Bible. Then, then all the way from the president down to the dog catcher people are led to adhere to God's righteousness. This will only come about after an extraordinary move of God in which all of the people become confronted with God's love, truth, and salvation, so that real truth is instituted instead of human reasoning. For this to happen Christians will have to be the salt and light, not just on social issues and politics, but in being personal disciple makers to be the leaven that raises society to a new level by God's power. That is my prayer each morning, as I pray for  church planting movements to sweep our land and the world. I pray that you will join me in praying and working to see God's liberty and justice for all.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 26-29.
