Thirsty?

We get thirsty every day. We have to decide how to quench our thirst. Some people drink soft drinks, tea, or coffee all day long, while others carry a bottle of water everywhere they go. Without liquid our bodies can't function, so we have to have something. However, some liquids are much better for quenching our thirst and meeting our physical needs than others. The same thing is true spiritually. Everyone gets spiritually thirsty, too. We try drinking various things to quench that thirst. Only One Person can quench our spiritual thirst.(Psalm 63:1) We need to drink of the Lord daily and often to be spiritually healthy and growing.

Some people drink coffee, tea or a soft drink as soon as they get up to get them going. What do you do to satisfy your spiritual thirst and to get you going spiritually every morning. David had found the best way. He sought the Lord early every morning. I agree completely. The first thing we all need every day is to drink deeply from the Lord Jesus by meeting with Him for a time of refreshment and direction. We live in a dry and thirsty land. If you leave the house without having the Lord's nourishment, you will not find it anywhere else you go. You will get thirstier and thirstier all day long. You can even dry up spiritually. You may start drinking in other things to try to meet those needs, but it will not help really.

The great advantage to drinking of the Lord is that it not only helps us spiritually, but it also aids us physically and emotionally. As David said, "My flesh longs for You." My body and emotions benefit from that quiet time and strength that comes only from the Lord. No medicine is better than a merry heart that comes from being close to the Lord and having His peace about all things. We all need to have His love and joy growing in us, but we have to drink it in daily by allowing the Spirit to fill us with His fruit. Don't miss out on having your thirst quenched by the Lord. It may be what you have been missing all your life or for many years. Taste and see that the Lord is good!

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 65-68.
