Attitude Check
It is very important for us to check our attitude often, even on a daily basis. Our attitude shows what is in our hearts. A wrong heart leads to wrong words and wrong actions. Therefore, if we want to live like Jesus, we must make sure we have the right attitude in all things. The Psalmist realized this truth in Psalm 100:2. We can learn a lot from this short verse.
All service for the Lord and His kingdom must be done with an attitude of gladness. God sees our hearts, and He knows if our service is out of habit, obligation, or simply to receive a reward. None of those motivations give Him the proper praise and worship He deserves, so He can't bless us when we serve out of anything but gladness. Is serving the Lord something that makes you glad, or is it a drudgery? If there is not full gladness, there is a problem to be handled.
Also, when we come into His presence, we need to have a song on our lips. Doesn't it make a great impression on you when you run into another person who is humming a tune or singing a song softly? What do you think when it is a praise song? They must be walking with the Lord. The Lord sees the same thing. If we only come asking Him for things or complaining, He knows we do not really love and worship Him as we should. Therefore, we need to continually have a song of praise on our lips for our Lord. Then, we will be ready to enter His presence at any time. I do not think this just applies to worship services, as you can tell.
What if all Christians went around serving in gladness and singing songs of praise? It would be a great testimony to the people around us, and it would bring a smile to the face of God. That should be our goal each day.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 101-103.
