Breaking the Cycle of Sin

Josiah was a great king for Judah, even though he started at a young age. He broke the cycle of sin began by his grandfather, Manasseh, and continued by his father, Amon, for nearly 60 years. They had sinned more than the pagans by breaking every law of God. Now, this young king led the people back to the Lord.(II Kings 22:2) He had to stop the slide and reverse the trends by returning to the truth shown by king David.

Sometimes, when we have a revival of truth we go too far to the right or to the left. However, Josiah stayed true to the Lord completely. When they found the book of the law that had been lost for years, he led them to repent and follow it fully.

If you are away from the Lord, just return to the Bible. Do whatever you read. Don't slant it either way. Then, God can bless you and your family, and you can break the cycle of sin that would take you farther and farther from God. Anyone can break the cycle. All it takes is full trust in God and His Word, while not following the ways of the people around us.

Tomorrow, i intend to read II Kings 23-25 and I Chronicles 1.
