The Anointing

Moses took some of the anointing oil and poured it on Aaron's head, when he consecrated him as a priest.(Leviticus 8:12) It is easy to see that oil is a symbol for the Holy Spirit in the Bible, and to be anointed with oil was to be empowered and directed by the Spirit. That is the only way any human being can do the work of the Lord in this world.

As I have said before, now we, as believers, are all priests before the Lord to reach out and bring people to God. None of us can do God's will without the anointing of the Spirit. Every believer has the Spirit from the moment he or she receives Christ. However, if we do not allow the Spirit to fill us and control us, we really do not have the full power of the Spirit or the anointing in our lives. It is crucial for us to allow Him to use us for His glory. Then, He shows us what to do and how to do it.(I John 2:27)

We need to set aside time every day to ask the Spirit to take control of us and to lead us in God's will. Then, whatever we do, we depend on the Spirit to give us the power to accomplish it. This is how it is possible to do God's will, no matter how impossible it may seem to us.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 9-11.
