God is Hard to Ignore

As Israel journeyed through the wilderness for 40 years, God's Presence was obvious to them, because the cloud was above the tabernacle during the day, and the pillar of fire was there at night.(Exodus 40:38) He was hard to ignore, but they managed to do just that. They managed to doubt Him and to complain, as well. I think that shows us a lot about human nature.

People are good at ignoring things they don't want to see or talk about. Have you heard the phrase, "the elephant in the room." Well, many times there is an unmistakable presence or problem that pervades the room we are in, but people will not talk about it. We seem to think that if we ignore things, it will cause them to disappear. That is ridiculous, of course. Ignoring something, never helps. It always hurts.

This is especially true when it comes to God's Presence. He is making Himself obvious to everyone in the world.(Romans 1:18-20) Most people are trying to ignore Him. It takes a lot of energy and self deception just to try to ignore God. It is impossible. The result is that people run away from God and rebel against Him, until they finally have to stand before Him and bow down to Him as Lord of all. At that point, it is too late to acknowledge Him as their personal Lord and Savior.

Please, don't ignore God. Ask Him to reveal Himself more and more. He wants to help you, but if you ignore Him, He will not force Himself on you. If you trust Him and follow Him, He will be there to lead you through all of the journeys of life.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 3-5.
