Then, They Shall Know That I Am The Lord
What will it take for people to realize that the God of the Bible, the Great I Am, is the Lord of all? Sometimes, it takes a supernatural event, whether it is a very good miracle or a devastating miracle to show people that He is the Lord.(Ezekiel 32:15) It is His desire that all people see Him and come to know Him as Lord.
Egypt was the most wealthy and powerful nation in the world for many years. Think of the majesty of the Pyramids and all of the relics we have seen from the Pharaohs. I am quite sure that no one in that time thought Egypt would ever cease to hold that exalted position. However, God brought them down by sending the king of Babylon against them. Ezekiel told the people this was going to happen before it happened. Why did God do this? Egypt had every opportunity to turn to Him. He had sent Joseph to Egypt to save them from the famine. He sent Jacob and the rest of Joseph's family to Egypt to be a witness for Him, but Egypt failed to listen to God. Therefore, He had to work a devastating miracle to show Himself as Lord of all. Still to this day, Egypt has not turned to the Lord.
Could God do the same thing to the USA? Yes, He could. I am quite sure that there are many people who think the USA is "too big to fail." No, we are subject to the Lord of the universe. If He decides the only way to show Himself as Lord is to bring devastation, He will. For one, I hope it doesn't come down to that. However, if that would help some people come to trust in Jesus as Lord, it would be worth it.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 33-35.
