Sharing God's faithfulness
We live in a world that doubts God. Many even doubt He exists. Many others doubt His goodness and love because of the pain and suffering in the world around us. Christians are called to be the bearers of the Good News of God's love. We are to sing it forth and bear witness of His faithfulness with our mouths to all generations.(Psalm 89:1)
The flesh leads us to speak about negative things. We are drawn to talk about our troubles. We want sympathy from others because we are having to endure pain and suffering. We want people to help us and to encourage us. However, when we dwell on the negative and seek to bring attention to it, we give people the wrong view of the Lord. He does not intend for life to be a drudgery. If your life is a heavy burden, it is not the Lord's doing. It has something to do with you.
Even Job in all of his afflictions could look at the blessings and faithfulness of God in His life. He did not lose hope because he had questions. Then, he realized that God was merciful and faithful. God was working a plan, and he ended up with twice as much as before. That is how God works, and we need to give Him all of the glory and praise for being so good and loving.
If Christians don't speak up for good and sing the praises of the Lord, the world will drown in the negative. Yes, God punishes, but He is always merciful in His punishment. Yes, we suffer, but suffering is allowed for a good reason. God is faithful to work in us, but we must be looking for His purpose and following His plan, not ours. We sure don't need to be sour puss complainers. That is a terrible witness for the Lord we love.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalm 90-93.
