Where Have You Put The Lord?
The Lord Jesus is not pushy. If He is in your life, it is because you have invited Him to come in through repentance and faith. Then, once He takes up residence, you decide where He lives. Does He live in the closet in the back corner of your life, or is He in the living room with You? Does He walk with You everywhere you go? It is up to you. He wants in, and He wants to assume His rightful place as Lord, so He can bless your life in so many ways. However, You decide where to put Him.
David decided once and for all to set the Lord before him.(Psalm 16:8) David did this because He wanted to live constantly seeing the face of the Lord. He placed the Lord just far enough ahead to follow Him and to see His face clearly. He made sure He was at his right hand side. This shows that David was relying on the Lord to fight his battles, not his own right hand of human strength. By setting the Lord in that position David was putting himself in the place of following and depending on Him for everything.
This is a wonderful illustration, because it truly communicates what it takes to have a daily walk with God that is real and personal. Jesus will not follow us around. We walk with Him, or we walk away from Him. He will not reach out and grab our right hand to stop us from doing things our way, but He is waiting for us to reach out to Him. Where have you put the Lord? It makes all the difference in the world.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 18-20.
